Protected Agriculture Technology (PAT) as its name describes has been a mystery in Afghanistan it was implemented by KRA in Nangarhar , Farah ,Maidan Wardak and Panjsher province to support 915 farmers in establishing green houses for them which is being funded by the DFID,USAID ,Counter Narcotics Trust Fund through the GPI (Goods Project Initiative) a USAID program to award projects for provinces which has been free of illicit crops like poppy. This project is designed to generate cash crops for the farmers and bring higher income in place of poppy, more than one season for fresh crops, 3 times more income than normal methods. Increased yield and more productions. This technology is new in Afghanistan with high demand for farmers with less land occupation and water shortage. KRA has the well qualified staff to work and carry this type of projects in any place of Afghanistan.

CONCLUSION:

KRA with more than one-decade experience gained expertise in different fields by adopting different scientific approaches and methodologies and developed a good rapport with following. Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development MRRD, Ministry of Women, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry Planning, Ministry of Water and Energy, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Public Works.

OBJECTIVES:

a): The main goal and objective of KRA is to contribute in rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in the Agricultural infrastructure, keeping in mind the self-sustainability of the vulnerable groups of the Afghan society, in different parts of Afghanistan as immediate needs of the people, donors priorities are as follow:

b): Resignation and Development environmental idea in education program and training.

c): To promote all round socio-economic development of the rural and urban poor and especially Farmers and farming communities.

d): To determine the scale and scope of the rehabilitation activities in the support of the vulnerable groups through Human resources development projects as:

e): Facilitating Health education and awareness, and income generating projects such as:

f): Handicraft, Embroidery, Candle making, Carpet Weaving, leather works, Carpentry masonry and others.

g): Implementation of the education, Community Development and productive construction projects, for the purpose of community self-sustainability.

h): To develop offices and field capabilities for making investigation, survey, design and implementation of multi-disciplined vulnerable support related projects.

i): To assist the Afghan Government and local authorities, UN and other donor agencies in rehabilitation and development efforts of Afghanistan.
